A lovely sea shanty song with its origins going back to the seaside town and major port of Cobh, Co. Cork. Like all good tales, this is about a sailor who yearns to go back to that place of ‘sanctuary’- the Holy Ground in Cobh, Co. Cork to be with his love. This was probably sung by many a sailor while working hard on the high seas as the Holy Ground in this area of Cork at the time was also known as an area where men could spend time with the women in their lives. This traditional arrangement is done in somber style with Maurice Lennon on Fiddle to reflect the pensive sea shanty emotions of being at sea.
